Dangal star Zaira Wasim is under fire yet again. The actress has been criticised for the pro-Pakistan posts her mother, Zarqa, posted on social media. The posts are over three years old, and had been intended as a way to cheer on the Pakistani Cricket team as it faced off against the Indian team during the 2014 World T20 Championship in Dhaka.
via TwitterThe screenshots of Zarqa’s posts were shared on social media by a Twitter user named Sonam Mahajan. Soon after, Zaira and her mother were the target of abusive posts and were lambasted for harbouring anti-national feelings. Some even began to abuse actor Aamir Khan for introducing her to the Indian film industry.
@ShankhNaad these anti national folks #ZairaWasim #zarqawasim @aamir_khan should be deported to their beloved Pakistan @ZeeNews

As a result, Zaira has suspended all her social media accounts. Sonam Mahajan’s Twitter account also stands suspended.
Zaira’s Kashmiri background has made her the cynosure of all eyes ever since she debuted through Dangal. The actress faced severe backlash last month when she met J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti. At a time when anti-Pakistan sentiments in India are at a high, Zaira’s meeting was seen as anti-Indian, and the young actress was thoroughly reprimanded for her actions.
She posted an apology shortly, following which a hue and cry were raised over the abuse she endured.
