While the makers of actor Vijay’s upcoming film had approached the producers of Rajinikanth’s 1991 movie, Thalapathi, for permission to re-use the title, a report in Hindustan Times states that GV Films has turned down the offer made by Sri Thenandal Films.
The director, Atlee, is said to be on the look-out for alternate title options. Vijay will be seen in triple roles in the action thriller, and according to the report, the Theri actor will be playing the role of a father and his two sons – all three of them belonging to different religions.

Nithya Menen has been roped in to play the wife of the father character, while Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen as the other two female leads.
AR Rahman will compose music for this yet-to-be titled film, and will begin work on it in April.
SJ Suriyah will be seen as the antagonist, while Sathyaraj also has a pivotal role in the film. The movie is currently being shot in Chennai, and the team is expected to fly to the UK to shoot a crucial action sequence.
