Calling an emergency press meet on Wednesday afternoon, TFPC President Vishal Krishna announced that Kollywood would go on strike if the Central and State governments do no take necessary actions to wipe out piracy.
“I have asked them (State and Central govts.) to put in measures to eradicate piracy. We’ve submitted a petition for the same. If a system is not implemented, we will go on strike from May 30,” he said at the press meet held in Guindy, Chennai.
The petition, also aimed at ticket prices, is a cause that Vishal has been vociferously campaigning for even before he became the president of the TFPC.

Ever since Vishal took office in the first week of April, he has been vocal about the kind of changes he vows to implement in his capacity as the President. From requesting reviewers to not review films for three days after the film’s release to telling channels to pay for a film’s promotional material, Vishal has drawn both flak and praise for them.
A few days back, Vishal announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to those who report on piracy in theatres.
