The Angamaly Judicial Magistrate Court has quashed Malayalam actor Dileep’s bail plea, and has remanded him in police custody for two days to conduct further investigations. Actor Dileep, who had appeared for his bail hearing this morning, was arrested by the Kerala police on Monday, on charges of conspiring to kidnap and assault an actress from the industry.
According to an Indian Express report, the actor continues to claim innocence, alleging that he was “trapped” in this case. High Court lawyer K Ramkumar represents Dileep.
The actor may face a life sentence if the charge under section 120 (B) against him is proved. If it isn’t though, it is believed that other sections could be dismissed by way of benefit of doubt.
On Tuesday evening, the police team that arrested actor Dileep, submitted a remand report which said that the actor had offered Rs 2 crore to the prime accused, Sunil Kumar a.k.a Pulsar Suni, to attack the actress and shoot a video of her.
According to the police report, the video footage had a clear image of the ring that the actress wore on her right hand finger. Dileep, allegedly, had asked Suni for proof that the video was not morphed, so the prime accused had ensured that the video had clear visuals of the actress’s face.

The remand report also added that Dileep held a grudge against the actress for breaking his marriage with ex-wife Manju Warrier.
The actress was abducted and sexually assaulted on 17 February 2017, in a moving car in Kochi. Dileep was arrested by the state police on July 10, and presented before the magistrate on July 11.
Dileep, who is currently the 11th accused in the case, had initially told the police that he had never met Pulsar Suni. However, police investigation revealed that Suni and Dileep knew each other from 2013 or earlier.
