Sitaram Panchal, theatre and cinema actor, who has appeared in films like Peepli Live and Jolly LLB 2, died this morning after battling lung cancer. He was 54.
The actor had complained of breathlessness this morning and was rushed to the hospital. He passed away at around 7.45 am.
Reports state that the actor had been suffering from lung cancer for around three years and had even sought help from the public to cover his medical treatment.
Panchal was also facing financial crisis. In conversation with Hindustan Times recently, the actor’s wife, Uma, said that he had been bedridden for 10 months and sought ayurvedic treatment when the cancer was first detected in January 2014. The Haryana government, after his request for funds, offered Rs 5 lakh for his treatment.

The actor, a National School of Drama graduate, has essayed brief but memorable roles in films such as Bandit Queen (1994), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), and The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002).
Last seen in Jolly LLB 2, the actor has three films that are yet to release — Saali Khushi, DNA Mein Gandhiji, and Das Capital Gulamon Ki Rajdhani.
