Actress-turned-producer Vanitha’s MGR Sivaji Rajini Kamal is in the final leg of shooting. Vanitha confirmed that the film’s audio will be launched this month and that the movie will release in October.
MGR Sivaji Rajini Kamal is also the directorial debut of choreographer-actor Robert. Although the film is Vanitha’s first one as a producer, her parents – actors Vijayakumar and Manjula – had earlier produced Nenjangal and Kai Kodukkum Kai under the same banner, Vanitha Film Production. “My parents couldn’t do anything after Rajinikanth’s Kai Kodukkum Kai. So, when I decided to produce, I thought would be a good idea to do it under my parents’ banner. I’m so glad that I could revive our production house,” said Vanitha.
The film’s title is a tribute to the legendary actors of Tamil cinema. “According to me, MGR, Sivaji, Rajini and Kamal are like the Gods of Tamil cinema. And all of them are like our family members. I spent a good amount of my childhood with them. So I thought I should honour them through the first film I produce,” declared Vanitha, who has also written the screenplay and dialogues for the film.
Srikanth Deva, (who has rechristened himself as Sri), has composed music. He also launches his music label Sri Studios with MGR Sivaji Rajini Kamal. “Sri is like my brother. I’m so thankful to him for readily agreeing to join us,” said Vanitha.
MGR Sivaji Rajini Kamal features an ensemble cast of Robert, choreographers Manoj and Suresh, debutant Kumki, Ramji, Premgi Amaren, Aishwarya, and Aarthi Ganesh. Powerstar Srinivasan makes a special appearance too.
