No Condom Ads On Television Between 6 AM And 10 PM

Television channels cannot air advertisements selling and promoting condoms between 6 AM and 10 PM, according to the latest diktat of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

Referring to the Cable Television Networks Rules 1994, the ministry advisory stated: “All TV channels are hereby advised not to telecast the advertisements of condoms which are for a particular age group and could be indecent/inappropriate for viewing by children. Indecent, vulgar, suggestive, repulsive or offensive themes or treatment shall be avoided in all advertisements.”

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) have welcomed the move.
