In an earlier interview with Silverscreen, P.G Muthiah revealed that the movie is not regarding the Jallikattu protests that Tamil Nadu witnessed last year on Marina beach. He said “The film is not about the protest, or the controversy surrounding the sport, but about the tradition. I could not have avoided the reference to the Marina protest in the script, simply because it was very significant. Usually, in a film based on sports, there will be sub-plots with love, friendship or betrayal. In this film, there is no deviation from the central theme.” Muthiah also added that the script talks about the game and the politics associated with it.
Noted Malayalam film director Siddique directed Bhaskar Oru Rascal which stars Arvind Swami and Amala Paul in the lead. It was initially set to release during Pongal but got postponed. The movie is a remake of the Malayalam movie, Bhaskar the Rascal, starring Mammotty and Nayanthara in the lead. Siddique directed the Malayalam version as well. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the film could release on January 26.
