Netflix India has several projects lined up for the new year and one of them is Love Per Square Foot. Infusing some real struggle involving the want of space in an already packed and notoriously unaffordable city, Love Per Square Foot appears to be that slice-of-life romantic comedy with the two protagonists, who for once, are in a quandary that is very relatable.
Directed by Anand Tiwari, whom we have seen on screen as Bunny in Go Goa Gone, Apu in Udaan, and the ‘Jaago Re’ ads by Tata Tea, casts actors Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar as a couple whose story begins in reverse. Unlike most couples, this one starts off with buying a house in Mumbai, getting married, and then falling in love.

Vicky Kaushal, who has garnered a lot of appreciation for his performance in films like Masaan and Raman Raghav, plays the titular male lead Sanjay Chaturvedi with a middle class upbringing but with dreams that are aspirational. In a bustling city like Mumbai where the rents are high as the skyscrapers, with overcrowded trains and lack of privacy for something as simple as sneaking in a kiss, his dreams of applying a loan for a flat of his own is almost thwarted until he meets Angira’s Karina D’Souza, who shares a similar dream.
And thus, they apply for a joint loan that is reserved for married people, and in some strange way, their love story begins.
Angira, who isn’t new to the digital platforms owing to her performance in the YouTube series Band Baaja Baarat, plays the ambitious one who has almost got it all figured out. Almost. When her mother asks about her marriage, she promptly declares that it will happen whenever it should happen.
The film also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Supriya Pathak, Alankrita Sahai, Raghuvir Yadav, and will release on Netflix on February 14.
