Earlier in the month, Amala Paul had lodged a complaint with the T Nagar police, Chennai, stating that a man had made sexual advances towards her while she was practising for a dance programmme to be held in Malaysia. Later, a 40-year-old Chennai-based businessman was arrested in connection with the case.
On Monday, the actress issued a detailed statement describing her experience. On January 31, while she was practicing for her dance performance, a man approached her and offered to take her out for a “special dinner” after the event which was to take place in Malaysia. She then asked him what he meant by special dinner.
“He shrugged and said don’t be a fool, you are not a kid. I got startled, because when I looked around no one was present at that moment beside the two of us. While this guy went out the studio, saying he is waiting for my positive answer, I called my well-wishers and staff to come to my rescue. It took them 30-odd minutes to reach the spot and catch hold of him,” she said in the statement.

The man tried to escape but failed. Amala Paul further stated, “While this ordeal was going on, I realised he is a member of an organised sex racket as he had my latest number stored in his phone and had all the information related to me and other actresses performing in the event.”
He was handed over to the Mamangalam police, T Nagar and she later filed an FIR.
“I thank the police for their swift action on the matter as they have not only found various evidences on the operations of the racket but have also arrested two of the linchpins. A few more arrest warrants are underway for other suspects too,” she said in the statement.
