After impressing everyone with her role in Kaala, Eswari Rao is set to play an important role in director Bala’s upcoming film, Varma, which is the Tamil remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, according to reports.
The male lead in the film is played by actor Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram. Vikram shared a picture of his son shooting for the film in Nepal.
Before Kaala, the actress was last seen in the Tamil film Saravana, staring Silambarasan, playing the role of Prakash
Raj’s wife. Apart from this, Eswari Rao will act and produce the Tamil film Azhiyadha Kolangal which is directed by M.R. Bharathi.
On playing the role of Selvi in Kaala and taking a sabbatical before it, Eswari Rao in an interview with Silverscreen said, “When I entered the industry, the demand was for actresses who were willing to portray glamour, and I did not feel inclined to take up such roles. There was a huge influx of heroines from the North, and I found that the space for me was shrinking. So, I took a call, opted out and started working in television. Even there, I worked under directors such as CV Rajendran and Dharan. Once, monotony crept into serials, I took a break from that too. Over the years, I’ve always had the confidence to back off when I am not satisfied as a performer.”
“I was a heroine at one stage and a character artiste now. The film industry will always find a way to utilise you. It might not be what you originally meant to do, but it offers choices,” she added.
