Actress Riythvika, known for her soft-spoken nature in the Bigg Boss house, won the title and the prize money of Rs 50 lakh on Sunday. Speaking later, she said the victory belonged to everyone and that she wanted to be an inspiration to all women.
Riythvika began her career with a role in Bala’s Paradesi and was noticed for her performance as a feisty homemaker in Pa. Ranjith’s Madras. She also played notable parts in Irumugan, Kabali, Oru Naal Koothu, and Torch Light.
The second season of reality show Bigg Boss Tamil on Vijay TV was hosted by actor-politician Kamal Haasan. The show began with 16 contestants on June 17. After high drama inside the house for over three months, the show concluded on Sunday; the final contest was among the four female finalists – Riythvika, Janani Iyer, Aishwarya Dutta and Vijayalakshmi Feroz, who was a wild-card entry.
Yashika Aannand, Ponnambalam, Mahat, Daniel Annie Pope, Vaishnavi, Senrayan, Ananth Vaidyanathan, Ramya NSK, Mumtaz, Bhalajie, Mamathi Chari, Nithya and Shariq Hassan were the other contestants.
Talking to Silverscreen about Riythvika’s victory, actor Ponambalam, her former housemate, said: “I’m happy for Riythvika. I had already told her that she would enter the finals because she is a deserving candidate. She is patient, hard-working and curious. She does not get into silly fights or talk unnecessarily. These traits make her stand out from the other contestants.”

During the first week of the season, Riythvika and three other contestants were up for elimination, but were spared as the rules stipulated there be no exits in the opening week.
The finale was attended by the contestants of Season 2 and the previous season’s star contestants Oviya and Aarav. The other contestants were awarded under certain categories – Nithya was named the ‘best house leader’, Danny the ‘best cook’, Vijayalakshmi the ‘best dressed’, Yashika the ‘best morning dancer’ and ‘best task performer’ and Mumtaz won for ‘ best hygiene’. Actors Balaji and Sendrayan shared the award for ‘best comedian’.
