Tamil Film Producers Council Approves Four Movies For Release On December 21

According to the Tamil Film Producers Council’s (TFPC) new rule that mandates small and medium films to approach the council to obtain sanction for release, four movies namely – Dev, Boomerang, Silukkuvarapatti Singham and Seethakaathi – have been approved for release over the Christmas weekend on December 21.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Seethakaathi, which marks the actor’s 25th appearance in a leading role, has been directed by Balaji Tharaneenthran who had previously directed the actor in the 2012 movie Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. Seethakaathi has Sethupathi essaying the role of a septuagenarian. Originally planned for a November 16 release, the film was postponed following the request of actor Udhaya whose Utharavu Maharaja was releasing on the same weekend.

Dev that has Karthi in the lead has been directed by debutant Rajath Ravishankar. The trailer for the movie which released last month shows the actor in the role of a biker. The movie reunites the actor with his Theeran Adhigaaran Ondru co-star Rakul Preet. Shot in Manali, the movie made news when its crew got stranded in the floods that rocked Himachal Pradesh.

Boomerang, starring Atharvaa and Mega Akash in the lead, has been directed by R Kannan, a former assistant of Mani Ratnam. Also featuring RJ Balaji and Bollywood actor Upen Patel, the trailer for the movie had come out in August and the movie has been awaiting release for some time now.

After Ratchasan, which is still running in theatres, Vishnu Vishal is gearing up for the release of his next movie – Silukkuvarapatti Singham. Featuring Oviya and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles, the movie has been directed by Chella and produced by the actor himself.

Last week, Vijay Antony’s Thimirupudichavan had run into trouble when the TFPC denied permission for the movie to release on November 16. Makers of Kaatrin Mozhi and Sei, films that had obtained clearance to release on November 16, called out Thimirupudichavan for cutting the queue.
