Kollywood actress Riyamikka committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Valasaravakkam on November 28. The reason behind the actress’ death remains unknown, there was no suicide note left by her.
Riyamikka was staying with her brother Prakash at a rented accommodation in Sridevi Kuppam, Valasaravakkam for the past four months. According to a report, the actress’ brother saw her very tired on Tuesday night. He said that was the last time he saw his sister alive. Riyamikka had last called her boyfriend, Dinesh, late on Tuesday night. But when Dinesh couldn’t reach her through the phone, he went to her house and asked Prakash about her.
Later Riyamikka didn’t open the door that was locked from inside even after knocking many times, and Prakash had to break open the window. He found Riyamikka hanging from the ceiling. He called the Valasaravakkam police, who rushed to the place and recovered her body. It was later sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy. A case was registered under Cr PC Section 174 (unnatural death) and further investigation is on.

According to Riyamikka’s family, the actress did not get a lot of film opportunities in Kollywood and was depressed. They suspect that the actress might have committed suicide due to the stress.
Riyamikka played a lead role in Aghoriyin Aattam Aarambam, a film yet to release. She had signed up for the upcoming film, Kundrathile Kumaranukku Kondattam, helmed by Dhayanandan PM.
The film was being shot in famous Murugan temples across Tamil Nadu, and some portions, in Madurai. Riyamikka was to play the lead role, as a teacher, opposite Prajin. The film would have marked her cinematic debut.
