Shankar, who is currently directing Kamal Haasan in Indian 2, is likely feature Vikram’s son Dhruv and Vijay’s son Sanjay in his next film. The director is reportedly mulling over the thought.
According to reports, Shankar plans to make a light-hearted film after having directed two big projects. His Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, said to be the costliest film in Indian cinema, is still running in theatres, and the production work for Indian 2 is currently underway.
“There is no official confirmation regarding this project yet. But we hope that the project takes off next year,” said a source in an Iflicks report. Shankar is predominantly known for making big-budget films with big stars. The last time made a film without a well known name was Boys in 2003.
Featuring Siddharth, Genelia D’Souza and Bharat, the star cast comprised of mostly newcomers except for Vivek. Despite this, the movie was the second most expensive Tamil film during the time of its release, coming second only to the director’s own Jeans.
Meanwhile, Dhruv Vikram is currently awaiting the release of his debut film Varmaa. Varmaa is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Directed by Sandeep Vanga, Arjun Reddy starred Vijay Devarakonda and became a huge success after its release. The director is currently working with Shahid Kapoor on the Hindi remake of the film titled Kabir Singh.
Varmaa is directed by the National Award winning filmmaker Bala. For his film Pithamagan, Vikram bagged the National Award for Best Actor. 16 years later, the actor’s son is making his debut with the director.
