Raghava Lawrence is set to direct and act in a new super hero movie, a big-budget 3D film produced by Sun Pictures. Shoot will begin after he wraps up Laxmmi Bomb, the Hindi remake of Kanchana 2.
A press note from the actor’s spokesperson confirmed the project and added that the story is based on a superhero, and set in India. A source close to Lawrence told Silverscreen that the film is titled Kaala Bhairava. He has already started pre-production work, and shoot will begin in October. Further announcements are awaited.
Raghava Lawrence is also in talks with director N Lingusamy for an action-entertainer. This is yet to be officially confirmed, though.
Lawrence is currently busy with Laxmmi Bomb, his first Bollywood directorial, starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. Latest reports say that Tarun Arora is on board to play the antagonist, a corrupt MLA. Tarun is best known for his role in Jab We Met, and also starred as the villain in Vishal’s Kaththi Sandai, and as a minister in Kanchana 3.

Laxmmi Bomb was launched in April at a studio in Mumbai and the second schedule will begin in August. The film faced a roadblock when Lawrence quit the project because the first-look poster was released without his knowledge. He said this was among other issues with the team. The news was widely reported, and the producers of the film met Lawrence in Chennai later and he agreed to come back on board. The producers and actors Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani said on social media they were happy he was directing the film.
Lawrence played the lead in the Kanchana franchise in Tamil. His last outing Kanchana 3 earned nearly Rs 30 crore in the opening weekend in Tamil Nadu. Sources confirm that he is also in the process of making the fifth film in the franchise – Kanchana 4: Muni 5 – that will be launched after his pending projects.
