An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run case that killed actor Lisa Banes, Deadline reported. The actor, best known for starring in the film Gone Girl, had suffered a head injury after she was hit by a speeding scooter in New York City on June 4. She died on June 14 due to her injuries.
Brian Boyd, 26, was arrested on Thursday in this case. He was arrested after patrol cops recognised him from a wanted poster, the report states.
Boyd is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Due to a confusion in the court, he was almost released without bail, the report further states.
Banes was walking near Lincoln Center’s Julliard School when she was struck in the crosswalk by the scooter. She was admitted to the intensive care unit of Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. However, the actor died of traumatic brain injury 10 days later.
According to a statement provided by a representative for Banes shortly after the accident, the driver of the scooter had run a red light when hitting her, indicating that she had the right of way when crossing the street.
The 65-year-old was in New York to perform her two-woman play The Niceties at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
