The report states that Bajpayee filed the criminal complaint in the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) against the 46-year-old Khan under IPC section 500 (punishment for defamation). In a press release, Bajpayee’s lawyer, Paresh S Joshi, said that he urged the court to register a criminal defamation case in the matter.

The tweet in question was posted by Khan on July 26 and it defamed the 52-year-old actor and tarnished his image among his fans, the report further quoted Joshi as saying.

Bajpayee personally appeared before the court to record his statement.

In the tweet, Khan aka KRK had called Bajpayee a ‘Ganjedi’ (a marijuana addict). The tweet was in response to someone who questioned how Khan could call Bajpayee’s latest series The Family Man 2 ‘soft porn’. Khan’s original tweet disparaging the show has since been deleted.

Recently, actor Salman Khan had also filed a complaint against KRK over defamatory remarks. While the latter had said that Salman Khan had taken this step as he was displeased by KRK’s review of his latest film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, the actor’s legal team had clarified that the suit was initiated because Kamaal R Khan was publishing and endorsing defamatory allegations.

In a statement, Khan’s legal team had said that KRK was “publishing and endorsing defamatory allegations, including that Salman Khan is corrupt, that he and his brand Being Human are involved in fraud, manipulation, and money laundering transactions, that he and Salman Khan Films are dacoits.”
