Telugu actor Shalu Chourasiya was attacked and her phone was snatched by an unidentified man while she was taking a stroll at Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) Park in Hyderabad, late on Sunday evening. Speaking to Silverscreen India, Hyderabad police officials say that a probe is underway to nab the culprit.
The actor, who sustained minor injuries to her head and her eyes, due to the incident, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. KBR Park falls under the limits of the Banjara Hills police station.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, Additional Inspector of Banjara Hills police station, Mohammad Hafeez Uddin, said, “On Sunday, around 6.30 pm, she had come to KBR Park for a walk. A couple of hours later, around 8.30 pm, an unknown person hit her and snatched her mobile phone, her iPhone 8 to be precise. Subsequently, he fled the scene. She was alone when the incident occurred.”
“So far, we don’t have any information on the identity of the attacker and no arrests have been made in the case. No major injuries have been inflicted on the victim by the attacker,” Uddin added.
The police official added that they are going through the footage from the CCTV cameras placed in and around KBR Park and a probe is underway. He added that a case has been registered at the Banjara Hills police station under section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

KBR Park in Hyderabad has previously witnessed several crimes including chain snatching and theft of valuables such as laptops and mobile phones from parked cars.
Shalu, who predominantly works in the Telugu film industry, made her debut with the 2015 Telugu film Sailu. She has acted in films such as O Pilla Nee Valla and Aranyamlo, both of which released in 2017. The actor has also appeared in the 2019 Tamil romantic comedy En Kaadhali Scene Podura, alongside actor Mahesh.
