Vikram, the Tamil actor who was last seen in the 2019 action thriller Kadaram Kondan, has tested positive for Covid-19, the actor’s publicity manager Yuvraaj told Silverscreen India on Thursday.
The actor has “mild symptoms” and is currently in isolation at his residence in Chennai, the publicity manager added. While further details regarding the actor’s health are awaited, Vikram’s manager Suryanarayanan M had tweeted on Thursday afternoon, “Dear well-wishers, very mild only and nothing to worry. Thanks for your prayers.”
According to a DT Next report, although the news broke only on Thursday, Vikram had tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan had also recently tested positive for the virus. He has since recovered and resumed work.
On the professional front, Vikram is currently working on the upcoming Tamil film Mahaan directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film, which happens to his 60th outing as lead actor, will also feature his son and actor Dhruv Vikram. This is the first time the two are sharing screen space. Recently, Dhruv had announced on social media that the father-son duo has completed dubbing for Mahaan. The film is backed by producer Lalit Kumar under the 7 Screen Studio banner.

Apart from Mahaan, Vikram has a slew of projects that he is working on. Recently, it was announced that the actor will be collaborating with director Pa Ranjith for a Tamil film backed by the Studio Green banner. Vikram also has an upcoming film with director Ajay Gnanamuthu titled Cobra. The film, will be backed by Lalit Kumar’s banner, and will also feature Srinidhi Shetty and Roshan Mathew. Vikram is also part of multi-starrer historical action drama Ponniyin Selvan helmed by filmmaker Mani Ratnam, where he will be essaying the role of Chola prince Aditha Karikalan. Ponniyin Selvan‘s first part is expected to hit the big screens in summer 2022.
