The Nandhi Awards were announced after a gap of four years. The event was temporarily stalled during the recent years due to the division of states into Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. While the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to continue with the Nandi Awards, Telengana is likely to come up with a new series of awards to honour their artistes. Nani, Samantha Ruth Prabhu were given the Best Actor, Actress awards for their work in Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu (2013). Eega, another Nani, Samantha Ruth Prabhu film, won awards for Best Film, Cinematography, VFX in the year 2012.
