Actor Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar a.k.a Simbu is among the few Kollywood actors who can do more than just act. Right from direction to acting, singing and dancing, he has a niche and he sure also the knack of staying in the news, for wrong or right reasons. STR and his love songs are a genre unto themselves. This viral number resonated with boys so well, when it first released. Oh, and he also turned lyricist with this one! Silambarasan’s Vallavan is a romantic drama that also starred Nayanthara, Sandhya, and Santhanam.

Love Anthem, 2011

A song about love yet again. This ‘anthem’, as it is referred to, speaks about love, love and well love in every language; it has a nice ring to it. It was composed by the actor himself for oneness and world peace. The latest version of the song, with Akon and the yet-to-feature female artist (Rihanna earlier), is yet to be released.

No Money No Honey – Vaanam, 2011

Here he is, on about how money is the ultimate authority. You find him conversing rather than singing with Andrea, his co-singer in this song. Krish‘s Vaanam is a hyperlink film that stars Simbu, Anushka Shetty, Bharath, Prakash Raj, Saranya Ponvannan, and Sonia Agarwal.

Love Panlaama Vendaama – Poda Podi, 2012

Our man is surprisingly contemplating falling in love in this catchy number. He’s all up for it but is also worried if it will leave his life in shambles. The ‘very good ma’ line that starts here is his signature line through the film. Vignesh Shivn’s Podaa Podi is a romantic drama that stars Simbu, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, VTV Ganesh and Shobana.

Appan Mavanae Vaada – Poda Podi, 2012

All fathers would wish to be supportive yet protective of everything their son is up to. I can’t get over how Simbu’s voice moves from one pitch to the other gradually and perfectly. This too is from Podaa Podi.
