This month was a roller-coaster ride. On the one hand, there were the Chennai floods. On the other hand, there were the flood of Tamil movies.
1.What’s the best way to celebrate Diwali? Seeing two leading actors bring it, with a head-to-head collision at the box office. The crowd loved Kamal Haasan’s Thoongaavanam and Ajith’s Vedalam. This was a special Diwali, for many.
A minimalist fan-poster made a brave attempt at capturing the essence of Thoongaavanam in a single image.

Meeanwhile, actress Kushboo, who calls Ajith ‘George Clooney’, couldn’t get enough of Vedalam.

2.On the heels of Diwali came the floods. Chennai and most of Tamil Nadu were swamped, as heavy rains lashed the State for two continuous days. Roads were flooded, people stranded, and those lucky enough to have a habitable house, stayed indoors.
But, adversity is the mother of invention. This man made his own raft with a 5 in 1 inflatable sofa bed. It did work, so all credit to him.

No cabs and autos were available on any apps. People began spoofing taxi companies like Ola, with fake news about their new boat service. To everyone’s shock, the jokes turned into reality as Ola began bailing people out with – boats.

3.Vijayakanth signed Tamizhan Endru Sol. After 2010, Vijayakanth had stopped acting in films as a full-fledged hero. Vijaykanth fans had plenty to cheer about after Tamizhan Endru Sol’s music director ‘Hip Hop’ Adhi broke the news.
Next movie for tamil –#TamizhanEndruSol ? Guess who’s back ?

4.CFBC’s Chairman Pahalaj Nihalani was in the news for all wrong reasons. Namely, cutting short a kiss scene from Spectre, the latest instalment in the James Bond franchise. The tag #SanskaariJamesBond was trending on Twitter and Pahalaj was under the radar for obvious ridicule. With several portals showcasing a ‘Sanskaari James Bond’, this is just one worthy sample

Fans wanted to know what Daniel Craig would think of this uniquely Indian brouhaha.

5.Also in the news was actor Suriya’s first look poster for 24, a film directed by Vikram Kumar. It’s quite a work of art, this poster, with several pictures embedded in it. The hidden images are easy to miss at first glance.

Music director Thaman was all praises for it:

And somehow, despite heavy rains and constant power cuts, Suriya’s fans managed to get #24Firstlook to trend.
