The winners’s list of the 62nd National Film Awards was announced last week. Quite a few artistes and technicians including Bobby Simha and Na Muthukumar, made Tamil cinema proud by winning the prestigious award. Some of the winners met the media as soon as the announcement was made, and told us how delighted and excited they were.

In our weekly interview, Anandhi of Kayal fame spoke to us among other things, the reason why she considers Prabhu Solomon ‘her God’. Prakash Raj turned 50 on March 26. For making chellam sound menacing, and playing many roles with great finesse, we wrote a quick tribute for the star. Also, singer Abhay Jodhpurkar chose five songs from Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam, that helped him improve as a musician. From Mitwa to Edho Edhothe list included lovely melodies. Perhaps, the most important event of all was the press meet held by Kamal Haasan. As always, he met the media at his favourite venue – his office in Alwarpet. He was his cheerful, candid self, and batted a range of questions.

Only two films released last Friday. Valiyavan had an insipid romance, and some soporific drunken scenes, while CSKa tale of greed, deceit and love, was served with a generous dash of thrills.

Photo-wise, Arun Vijay, Adhi, and Ishwarya Rajesh, gathered to launch a calendar, while Ashok Selvan, and Amitash Pradhan teamed up to inaugurate a French bakery. Later, Prabhu and Vikram Prabhu stepped out together to release the trailer of Sivaji Ganesan’s Veerapandiya Kattabomman, which has now been digitised.
