Mulk, Fanney Khan and Karwaan in Hindi, Ghajinikanth in Tamil and Chi La Sow and Goodachari in Telugu are out this weekend.
Ghajinikanth
“He’s the brand ambassador of forgetfulness,” says a character about Arya in the trailer. Arya plays a Rajnikanth fan with memory issues in the movie. It is a light-hearted comedy featuring Sayyeshaa Saigal as the female lead. A remake of the Telugu movie Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Ghajinikanth is directed by Santhosh P Jayakumar, who previously directed the adult comedy Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu. Ghajinikanth also stars Satish and Sampath Raj.
Fanney Khan
A remake of the Belgian movie Everybody’s Famous, it’s about a father who will go to any lengths to realise his daughter’s dream. Anil Kapoor and Divya Dutta play parents to Pihu Sand, an overweight girl who dreams about making it big in the music industry. Kapoor, with the help of Rajkummar Rao’s character, hatches a plan to kidnap leading singer Baby Singh, played by Aishwarya Rai. The movie is directed by Atul Manjrekar and jointly produced by Anil Kapoor and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Karwaan
Featuring Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar, Karwaan is a road movie. The swapping of two dead bodies leads to the three protagonists winding up together on a road trip to Kochi. Karwaan is written and directed by Akarsh Khurana, who has worked in theatre as well as in films such as Krrish and Kites.
Mulk
The movie deals with the religious persecution faced by Muslims in today’s world where terror attacks are on the rise. The story, supposedly based on true events, is about the travails of Rishi Kapoor’s character who has to answer for the actions of a family member accused of terrorism. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the movie also features Tapsee Pannu, Prateik Babbar, Rajat Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana.
Chi La Sow
Actor Rahul Ravindran turns director with this feel-good love story starring Sushanth and Ruhani Sharma. Arjun is 27 and in no hurry to get married. But, his mother tricks him into meeting a girl. Will he find love or not give it a chance? The Telugu film also stars Vennela Kishore. Music is by Prashanth R Vihar.
Goodachari
Adivi Sesh plays a man who wishes to join the intelligence force, even after his father got killed serving the nation. The trailer of the movie talks about ‘Trinetra’, an undercover organisation capable of operating without any limitations. The movie is touted as the comeback vehicle of yesteryear actress Supriya Yarlagadda. The movie also features Prakash Raj and Sobhita Dhulipala.
