The film is jointly produced by Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Madhu Mantena’s Phantom Films, Deepika Padukone’s Ka Productions, Sajid Nadiadwala, Reliance Entertainment, and 83 Film Ltd.

Ahead of its release, the film was declared tax-free in New Delhi by the AAP-led state government.

As per the BOI report, 83 performed well in urban centres across India, such as Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. All these cities are known for having a good number of “high-end premium multiplexes,” the report adds.

However, the film had a “dull” performance in the northern belt, including states like Punjab, UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. The report further observes that the sports drama has great potential for growth and can see “huge jumps” on Saturday and the weekend since it is the festive season, with Christmas being a national holiday. But, the overall performance of the film will depend to a large extent on how it does in the biggest 20 cities, the BOI report notes.

As for the southern regions, the report states that while the film was released in 375 screens, the dubbed versions will not add much to the film’s box-office tally – probably only around Rs 50 lakh or so. Besides Hindi, the Ranveer Singh-starrer was also dubbed and released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
