Actress Aarthi Agarwal, 31, who once ruled the roost in Telugu cinema, passed away in a private hospital in New Jersey on Saturday. Reports suggest that Aarthi was battling obesity and pulmonary illness and passed away due to a failed liposuction surgery. Aarthi made her Telugu cinematic debut with the smash hit, Nuvvu Naaku Nachav in 2001 and went on to work in other hits like Nuvvu Leka Nenu Lenu, Indra and Vasantham. She had the reputation of teaming with up with all the top stars in her prime.
In 2005, she attempted suicide, upset with rumours about an alleged affair with co-actor Tarun. Aarthi has starred in nearly 25 films. Her latest film, Ranam 2 released in cinemas on Friday.
