Actor Ananth Ram who shot to fame with Hip Hop Aadhi‘s Meesaya Murukku has now turned director with Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu, the title and first look poster of which was revealed on Sunday. The coming-of-age youth entertainer is touted to be a slice of life film that will be bankrolled by White Feather Studios, a group of US-based investors. This will be their first production.
The poster features the Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco and the Statue of Liberty on the right side with the lighthouse of Chennai amidst palm trees (reminding you of Kerala) on the other side. A bridge juts out from the left connecting the bridge of San Francisco on the right and we find illustrated miniature student figures on it.
Surrounded by clouds is the title Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu with miniature illustrations of popular things back in the 90s. There’s the Cartoon Network, Jetix, and KTV logos, lollipops, cone ice cream, a Vespa scooter, AR Rahman‘s face, the Cricket World Cup Trophy, airplanes, cycle, and vintage motorcycles. The illustrated miniature student figures are also found jumping around the title.
Sivakarthikeyan took to Twitter to release the poster on Sunday. He wished the team luck and mentioned that the title was nice and fresh.

“I would like to thank Sivakarthikeyan sir for unveiling the first look and title of our film. This means a lot to us. To have someone like him, who cares, values, and respects friendship wholeheartedly do this is bliss. I believe, it will surely add lots of positive vibes to the film,” says director Ananth Ram.
He adds, “Friendship isn’t just about fun, but an unconditional bonding that positively influences everyone, especially during the teenage phase. I’m sure this film will make everyone relish the friendship they hold with several people.”
The film’s cast comprises Kumaravel, Diyana Vaishalini, Leila, Ananth, Bhavani Sre, RJ Vijay, Pooranesh, Wilspat, Irfan, Sabarish, RJ Ananthi, Monica Chinnakotla, ‘KPY’ Bala, Guhan, Fenny Oliver, TSR, Vinoth, Poovendhan, and Sai Venkatesh. AH Kaashif is composing music, Tamil Selvan is handling cinematography, Fenny Oliver is also handling the edit, and Rahul on art. Preethi Narayanan is handling costumes with Azhar on choreography.
The film was launched prior to the nationwide lockdown but the team did not commence work on the film. The occasion saw Hip Hop Adhi and Axess Film Factory‘s G Dilli Babu clapping the clapboard for the film.
The team will begin filming once the pandemic situation improves. Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu is slated to hit screens in 2021.
