Director Vijay Sri G revealed that the National Award winning actor was initially very reluctant to take up the role. “He also had a few apprehensions. He is 86 years old now, so he asked me, ‘I am a thaatha. Are you OK with me playing a don?’ I told him that I had written the character with him in mind and that he would suit the role,” said Vijay.

Actor Charuhasan will be portrayed in the film as a very ‘raw character’. Director Vijay Sri G, speaking to ToI, said, “He speaks in a very terse way, and I even wrote the dialogues that way. He is the villain, but a nalla villain — something like the characters that Ajith plays these days. His character will change the flow of the story. This is a local film, set in Chennai, so he will be seen without the sophistication that he brings to his roles. The character will be very raw and he will sport a look that is very local.”

Vijay Sri G’s film has an interesting tagline – No makeup, No drugs. “No makeup, no drugs is the tagline of the film. We are a different person when we step out of our homes, by creating a made-up personality. Also, it is only here that we equate powder with makeup. But powder means drugs in most places,” the director said.

Staying true to the theme of the film, the actors will be seen without any make-up.

Work has already begun on the film. The movie has cinematography by Raja, who has worked in films like Soodhu Kavvum and Thegidi while the music will be composed by Prakash Nikki.

Actor Charuhasan was last seen in the 2013 film, Silinu Oru Sandhippu.
