Actor Parthiepan Wins Rocheston’s Distinguished Director Award

Actor-director Parthiepan is the latest Kollywood celebrity to receive an international award. He has been conferred with the Rocheston’s Distinguished Director Award for his “tendency to daringly break conventional rules to create astonishing stories and deliver exhilarating performances will continue to inspire aspiring creators across the globe”.

The actor shared the news in his Twitter account.

The award is founded by the Rocheston Accreditation Institute, New York.  There were special mentions of Parthiepan’s portrayal as Bharathi in Bharathi Kannama and Pudhiya Pathai which came out under his direction.

In an interview to Silverscreen.in, the actor had said that he was in cinema for his passion for the medium and to satiate his hunger to explore new things. He reiterated the same after winning the award.

The actor has won the National award for Best feature film in Tamil twice, for Housefull (1999) and Pudhea Paadhai (1989). This marks the actor’s first international award. Previous recipients of this award include Oscar-winning sound technician, Resul Pookutty for Distinguished Engineer and director Shiv Mohaa, who received ‘Distinguished Design’ for his debut film Zero.

Parthiepan is the second Kollywood actor after Kamal Haasan to receive an international award this week. It was recently announced that Kamal Haasan will be awarded the prestigious Chevalier de L’Ordre Arts et Lettres award by the French government.

Actor Parthiepan congratulated Kamal in his characteristic quirky style saying, “The actor is deserving of all the awards in the world or better yet, if we could melt the world into a metal and make a shield out of it, he deserves even that”. He added that such awards awaken one’s spirit and invigorate one’s love for the art.
