Assamese actress and model Bidisha Bezbaruah was found dead in her flat in Gurugram, near Delhi. The police have arrested her husband in connection with the death.
Times of India reports that Bidisha, a popular TV actress from Assam who has played minor roles in Hindi cinema, had recently moved to Gurugram and was working with an advertising agency. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her house, late Monday evening. Police say that her husband had been trying to get in touch with her, but couldn’t, and notified neighbours, who then tried to break into the house.
The TOI report says that police was informed by Bidisha’s father that the actress and her husband Nisheeth had disagreements, and that Bidisha suspected him of having an affair and wanted a divorce. The police have, therefore, arrested Nisheeth – an FIR under section 506 of the Penal Code (Abetment to Suicide) has been filed against Nisheeth.
“She was not happy in her marriage and things had turned worse in the last few months. It was around 9 pm on Monday when I received a call from the police that my daughter was found hanging in her flat. On the same day, she had called me around 5 pm and said she wanted a divorce. I asked her to be calm, but she refused to listen and disconnected the phone call, saying ‘Let me take my own decision’. I immediately called up her husband in Mumbai, asking him to be with her, but he flatly refused. After a few hours, we got this unfortunate news,” – Aswini Kumar Bezbaruah, Bidisha’s father, said in his police complaint.
This incident comes close on the heels of the the case of model and actress Kritika Choudhary, who was found dead in her Mumbai apartment in June this year.
