Trisha Krishnan plays the female lead in Sathuranga Vettai, while actors Nasser, Sriman and Ponvannan play supporting roles. Ponvannan had played a police officer in the first part of the series and will play the same role in the sequel as well. The first film was about scams and frauds in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The sequel is likely to be more urban centric.

Poorna, whose next release is Savarakathi, had said at the audio launch of the film that she had been on the verge of quitting films before Savarakathi happened. In Savarakathi, she plays a preganant woman. The film is directed by GR Adithya, brother of director Mysskin. At the audio launch, Mysskin had said that Poorna was a committed actress but almost all her previous films hadn’t done justice to her potential.

The actress had thanked Mysskin saying and said he was the reason she had been offered so many roles in Tamil films now, “In Savarakathi, I play a solid role and Sathuranga Vettai 2 will explore a different side of me. I am happy with the projects that I have been offered. Director Nirmal stated that he couldn’t think of anyone else other than me for the character. I think it all happened because of Mysskin — he was the one who gave me the much-needed push.”

Poorna’s film Manal Kayiru 2 is also releasing soon. The film is a sequel to the 1982 film of the same name
