Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s latest film, Pinneyum, which was released in the theatres on August 18, has been selected for the ‘Masters’ section of the 41st Toronto International Film Festival to be held from September 8 to 18 in the Canadian city. According to a The Hindu report, there will be five screenings of the film at the festival between September 12 and 16.
Pinneyum, starring Dileep, Kavya Madhavan and Indrans, is Adoor’s return to filmmaking after a gap of 8 years. Set in Kerala’s countryside, Pinneyum narrates the story of a family which is torn apart by a heinous crime.

The director, who is one of the most revered filmmakers in the country, has to his credit classics like Elippathayam (Rat Trap) and Swayamvaram. A number of his films have been to the prestigious festival in the past. In 2007, his Naalu Pennungal (The Four Women) was screened at Toronto Film Festival’s Masters section.
Adoor Gopalakrishnan and co-producer Baby Mathew will be attending the festival.
