Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has reportedly not been approached to play poet Amrita Pritam in the Sahir Ludhianvi biopic, starring her husband Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. According to Hindustan Times, while speculations rose that Priyanka Chopra has been replaced, a source told the daily that the reports are “baseless”.
“Aishwarya has not been approached for the film. She has no idea from where such baseless reports are pouring in. She has not seen the script,” a source tells Hindustan Times.

Directed by debutant Jasmeet Reen, Abhishek Bachchan plays poet Sahir Ludhianvi, a role he is reportedly working hard to lose weight for. This is the third film in which Bachchan plays a real-life character, after Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se and Guru.
Ludhianvi was a prolific poet and lyricist responsible for songs such as Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind Par Woh Kahaan Hai (Pyaasa) and Woh Subah Kabhi Toh Aayegi (Phir Subah Hogi).
