Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan has revealed the first look of his forthcoming film Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi. The film is a sequel to his 2012 film Son of Sardaar that had Juhi Chawla, Sonakshi Sinha, and Sanjay Dutt in supporting roles.
While Son of Sardaar was a Hindi remake of the Hollywood film Our Hospitality (1923), Sons of Sardaar is based on the battle of Saragarhi, that took place in 1897 between British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in the North-West Frontier Province.
Devgan, who had tweeted last year that the film will match the scale of Hollywood war film 300, told TOI in an interview that the story of the battle struck a chord when he heard it. “It epitomised the strength and valour of the Sikh community. I salute the 21 Sikhs who were the heroes of this mission and I want to show their bravery on screen,” he said.
He took to Twitter to reveal the first of the film on 29 July morning:

The actor had previously starred in another film based on India’s history, The Legend of Bhagat Singh. His role of Bhagat Singh won him accolades including the National Award in 2002.
Currently, the actor is involved in the promotional activities for his upcoming film Shivaay releasing on Diwali this year. Directed by Devgan, Shivaay will be an action-thriller featuring newcomer Sayyeshaa Saigal and comedian Vir Das. Shivaay and Sons of Sardaar are produced by Ajay Devgan’s production house.
Sons of Sardaar will also release on Diwali this year.
