Ajay Devgn & Kajol At An Event Promoting Ban On Plastics

A couple of hours after writer Varun Grover called out the team of Helicopter Eela for not mentioning the name of lyricist Swanand Kirkire in the trailer’s end credits, producer Ajay Devgn tweeted out an apology and said it was being rectified.

The trailer was released to coincide with Kajol’s birthday.

The lyricist responded on Twitter, thanking Ajay for his gesture, and said the film is close to his heart.

The  2.47 minute trailer starring Kajol, National Award-winning actor Riddhi Sen and others portrays the story of a single mother and son. The mother is motivated to resume her education, following something her son says. But, they keep running into each other at college, and their relationship suffers. Is the mother hovering over the child’s life like a helicopter? Will she find joy by learning to let go?

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and written by Mitesh Shah and Anand Gandhi of Ship Of Theseus fame, the film is due to release on September 7. It also stars Neha Dhupia and Tota Roy Chaudhary in pivotal roles. Music is composed by Amit Trivedi  and lyrics  by Swanand Kirkire.

The film marks Kajol’s next outing at the movies after the 2017 Dhanush-starrer VIP2, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, where she played an egotistic business magnate who eventually learns to live life too. The film marked her return to the Tamil industry 20 years after her debut in Rajiv Menon’s 1997 musical Minsara Kanavu, where she was cast alongside actors Prabhudheva and Arvind Swami.
