Actress Amala Akkineni, a top actress in Tamil cinema during the late 80s and early 90s,will be seen on the small screen soon with Uyirmei. The shoot for the serial begins in a couple of weeks and the actress will stay in Chennai for the duration. Amala, who starred in movies like Agni Natchathiram and Sathya will play the role of a doctor in the teleserial.
Amala was last seen in the Tamil film Karpura Mullai alongside actor Raja. She has been more active in the Telugu film industry, appearing in two films in the last two years. She had a crucial role in Life is Beautiful and also guest starred on Manam, which had the Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaithanya.
