Actress Amala Akkineni will star alongside Manju Warrier in C/O Saira Banu. The film marks Amala’s return to the Malayalam Film Industry after a gap of 25 years. She was last seen in the 1991 Mohanlal starrer Ulladakkam.
Debutante Antony Sony Sebastian will direct this film. Reports indicate that Manju Warrier will essay the titular role of Saira Banu, a postwoman while Amala will play the role of an advocate, Ani John Tharavady.
Antony, who rose to fame with his short film Moonnamidam, told IBTimes that the emotional drama will go on the floors in September. Actor Shane Nigam of Kismath fame will also play an integral role in the project.
Popular radio jockey Shaan, who acted in Moonamidam, has penned the script of C/O Saira Banu while the dialogues have been written by Bibin Chandran. The movie will be produced by Eros International in association with Mactro Films.

Amala, who had acted in just two Malayalam films – Ente Sooryaputhrikku and Ulladakkam in 1991, stopped acting after her marriage to actor Nagarjuna in 1992. She made her comeback in 2012 with a supporting role in the Telugu film, Life is Beautiful. She has also played supporting roles in Hindi films like Listen, Amaya (2013) and Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015). Amala also acted in the shortlived Tamil serial – Uyirmei.
In November 2015, it was reported that she will be seen in Kamal Haasan’s trilingual directed by TK Rajeev Kumar. But, the team decided to work on the Sabash Naidu script instead.
