Nayanthara was moved to tears by Amarakaaviyam, its director Jeeva Shankar told us. The actress had watched the film with her friend Anu Vardhan, wife of director Vishnu Vardhan, at a special screening organised by director Jeeva Shankar and actor Arya. She was seen clearly enjoying the film until the interval, director Jeeva recalled. But soon after the screening, was sobbing inconsolably. “Nayanthara looked downcast and I couldn’t see her face. I waited at the threshold looking at her and chose to not disturb her when I found her crying. After a few minutes, she gathered herself again and told me she was moved by the climax,” said an elated Jeeva. The climax was meant to make the audience emotional, he admitted. “I was hoping to execute the scene well so that it will remain powerfully etched in the audience’ minds. And that’s exactly what Nayanthara mentioned too,” shared Jeeva.
After the screening, Arya accompanied Nayanthara on her way back home and found her pensive and struggling to compose herself. “Arya told me that Amara Kaaviyam had affected her so much. She called me five days later and told me again that she couldn’t get over the climax,” said Jeeva. He added that Nayanthara phoned actor Sathya, Arya’s brother and actress Mia George, the lead of Amara Kaaviyam and congratulated the young stars. “Nayanthara said she wasn’t an emotional person who broke down soon. Perhaps, that is why she liked Amara Kaaviyam.” Jeeva surmised.Nayanthara, Trisha, Pooja Uma Shankar and Lekha Washington had attended the film’s audio launch recently. Amara Kaaviyam is Jeeva Shankar’s second directorial venture after Naan. Ghibran has composed music and the film is produced by Arya under his banner ‘The Show People.’ Amara Kaaviyam is slated for release on September 5th.
