The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has revoked the membership of actor Dileep. This follows his arrest in the actress abduction case; he has been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
According to a report, members of the organisation came to this decision after an executive meeting at actor Mammootty’s residence in Kochi, a little while ago. Prominent actors such as Prithviraj, Asif Ali and Mohanlal are said to have attended the meeting.
The executive members have also decided to sack Dileep from the post of treasurer. Addressing the media after the meeting, actor Mammootty said, “We will all stand by the actress”. The senior actor also apologised on behalf of actors Mukesh and Ganeshkumar, who recently misbehaved with the media when asked about their stand on the issue.
Reports suggest that Dileep could be sacked from other film organisations, including FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) and also Film Exhibitors’ United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK), which he founded.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old actor maintains that he is innocent. “I am innocent and I will prove my innocence. I was trapped,” he told the media before being taken into prison.
