Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has landed in trouble with the Western Railways (WR) authorities in India after his promotional stunt for his television show 24 backfired. Earlier this week, pictures of the actor travelling by Mumbai’s local train were shared widely on social media. The actor is seen leaning out of the train’s footboard – a regular stunt in the television show.

On 16 July, an NGO called Sahas Foundation, lodged a complaint against the actor and the event management company responsible for the promotional stunt, calling it “irresponsible”. The founder of the NGO, Sayed Furqan Ahmed, spoke to India Today regarding the complaint against the actor. “Anil Kapoor is a very senior actor and has a large fan following not only in India but also in other countries. His stunts may encourage some fans to copy him and they may get injured. That’s why we have filed a complaint against him,” he said.

According to a DNA report, chief spokesperson of WR, Ravinder Bhakar, confirmed that notices were sent to the event management company, Market Men Consumer & Events for not adhering to “safety and security” during the shoot. “In spite of the terms and conditions to adhere strictly to safety and security during the shoot, Shri Anil Kapoor allegedly seems to be leaning from the footboard of a local train during a promo shoot on 14/7/2016, as observed from videos through social media. An explanation has been sought from production company M’s Market Men Consumer and Events Pvt. Ltd. in this regard,” he said.
The television show, 24, is based on the American series of the same name starring Kiefer Sutherland as Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Jack Bauer. In the Indian version, Anil Kapoor plays the role of Jai Singh Rathore, an Anti-Terrorist Unit (ATU) agent.
The show was first aired in 2013 on Colors TV and is currently gearing up for the release of its second season. The new season stars Hindi soap opera actress Sakshi Tanwar, Surveen Chawla, and Sikander Kher.
