Actor Anusree, who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry, will play the lead role in the upcoming film titled Thara. Speaking to Silverscreen India, Dheswin Prem, the film’s writer and director said it will be a feel-good family drama.
The film’s title poster was released by actors Fahadh Faasil, Surabhi Lakshmi and director Dileesh Pothan through their respective social media handles on September 14.
Thara is produced by Sameer PM under the Sameer Movies banner in association with Antonio Motion Pictures and Down Town Productions.
Director Dheswin said the idea for Thara was derived from day-to-day events and the stories that he heard from the people around him. “I was working on another big film, but that did not take off due to various reasons. So, we wrote Thara’s script this year in April and May, and pitched it to the producers, who are also producing my upcoming Tamil film. They were interested in the subject and agreed to back the film. Thara will mark Sameer Movies’ first Malayalam production,” he added.
The filmmaker noted that Thara will be a female-oriented subject that will entertain the family audience. “Anusree plays the lead character named Sithara. During lockdown, she travels from Chennai to Kerala in a taxi. The taxi driver is a Tamilian, played by Sanal Aman. As they reach Kerala, due to an unforeseen circumstance, the driver stays in Sithara’s flat. The main plot of the film revolves around the duo and the other flat residents,” he added.
