AR Rahman is set to compose an anthem in three languages for the upcoming Avengers Endgane. The song, that will be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, will release on April 1.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comprising characters Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Agent Romanov, and others, have always enjoyed a huge fan following in the country. According to a LiveMint report, Avengers: Infinity War, the previous edition in the series, collected close to Rs.192 crores within the span of two weeks to become the highest grossing Hollywood film beating Jungle Book’s record of Rs. 188 crores.
Marvel Studios has now commissioned the Oscar-winning composer to create an anthem to celebrate the culmination of the franchise. “Avengers: Endgame is not just a movie, it’s an emotional journey for fans everywhere in India. An original composition by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman was the perfect way to celebrate the love for Marvel among fans in the country. This is our small way of thanking the fans here for their extraordinary support”, said Bikram Duggal, Head – Studios, Marvel India.
Talking about the offer, Rahman said that there was immense pressure on him to deliver as his own family comprised of fans of the franchise. “Being surrounded by Marvel fans in my own family, there was too much pressure to come with something really satisfying and apt for Avengers: Endgame. I hope Marvel aficionados and music lovers enjoy the track,” he said.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Avengers: Endgame is directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo. Despite half the characters meeting their end in the previous movie, the new edition still boasts an ensemble cast comprising of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Hemsworth and Brie Larson. The movie is reportedly Chris Evan’s last outing as the iconic character Steve Rogers from Captain America.
Avengers Endgame releases on April 26.
