Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor hit back at the trolls he has been dealing with recently, since he spoke about his struggle with obesity, and said people don’t have the right to speak ill of anyone on any platform.
In an interview, he reportedly said, “Anyone who has gone through weight loss knows it is extremely difficult, and it’s harder when one is under the public eyes. If a person cannot be encouraging or supportive, so be it, but they have no right to put others down especially for body-related issues.”
People have been body shaming Arjun Kapoor by sharing old pictures of him, after he posted a long note on Instagram with his workout pictures, and encouraged others to achieve their goals. He recalled how at the age of 20 he vowed to never give up for three years, and ended up losing 50 kg.
He said, “It’s been a tough journey for me ever since I was a kid, when it comes to my battle with obesity. Everyone has their own struggles. I have had and continue to have mine. But the whole point of life is that we fall, we get back up and try again… I vowed never to give up in the 3 years it took me to lose 50 kg when I was 20 years old, and I sure as hell won’t be giving up and letting go now. Keeping the belief is key, you’ve got to keep at it and one day you will reap benefits.”
The actor, who has 10 million followers on Instagram, was trolled by many, but Bollywood celebrities including Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Farah Khan, Malaika Arora Khan and Anushka Kapoor commented on his post and applauded him.
Arjun Kapoor, who is celebrating his birthday today, is currently busy prepping for the Ashutosh Gowarikar production Panipat, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt. The film tells the story of the Third Battle of Panipat, and Arjun Kapoor reportedly plays Sadashiv Rao Bhau, who served as the commander of the Maratha army during the battle. The actor was recently seen in India’s Most Wanted directed by Raj Kumar Gupta.
