Arjun Sarja may star in Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming film Maanaadu with STR. According to reports, he might play villain in the film opposite STR as lead. He was last seen in a negative role in Mankathaa and Irumbu Thirai.
The film makers or actors haven’t given an official confirmation yet. A spokesperson for the film told Silverscreen, “As of now the director is busy with the releases of RK Nagar and Party. So work on Maanadu‘s production has not proceeded any further. Any update on this film will happen only after the release of Venkat Prabhu’s other films that have been scheduled.”
It was earlier reported shoot for Maanaadu will start on the actor’s birthday on February 3. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi, the film is a political thriller. There are also speculations that Simbu might himself play the negative role in the film. However, the spokesperson for the director confirmed that his character would be a ‘grey role’, and not completely negative.
About Maanaadu, Venkat Prabhu said in an interview, “It’s a long pending project. We have been talking about a possible collaboration for a long time now, but suddenly STR called me one day. I narrated his character along with the outline of the script. STR liked the idea and gave a nod. The movie will come as a different experience for STR. His fans will find his character in the film exciting.”
Venkat Prabhu also said that he was considering a summer release. “As a team, I think we will be able to pull it off and release our film for summer 2019.” There are reports that Keerthy Suresh might play the female lead, but nothing has been finalized yet.

Meanwhile, the director awaits the release of his new movies Party starring Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, Shiva, Jai, Chandran among others, and RK Nagar starring Vaibhav, Inigo Prabhakaran and Sana Althaf, Anjena Kirti in the lead roles.
