SS Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is set to dominate the Chinese box office. On day one, the film has surpassed its prequel Baahubali: The Beginning. It remains to be seen whether it will inch past Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar.
The film had a blockbuster opening at $2.85 million (Rs. 19 crores). The film opened across more than 7,000 screens and it became the third highest opener in China for Indian films.

Baahubali 2, starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati, opened at Rs. 100 crores in India. In China, Baahubali 2 could not beat the opening day record set by Secret Superstar and Hindi Medium but it did defeat its prequel Baahubali: The Beginning‘s collection record.

While both the films are the two most successful films made in India, the first one made only Rs 8 crores in China. Aamir Khan’s Dangal continues to be the benchmark as it made a whopping Rs 1,200 crores alone in China and a total of Rs 2,000 crores worldwide. Baahubali 2 has made Rs 1,700 crore so far worldwide and if it gets a similar kind of reception from the Chinese audience, it could well come India’s most successful movie.
This year, Baahubali 2 won three National Film Awards for Best Action Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Popular Film.
