Director Bala is reportedly in talks with Suriya for a movie. The project, if and when it materializes, would mark the pair’s collaboration 16 years after Pithamagan.
It had been reported that Suriya, who is currently shooting for KV Ananda’s Kappaan, was approached by the director or a project. The movie would come close on the heels of Suriya38 that is set to be directed by Irudhi Suttru director Sudha Kongra. Speaking to Silverscreen, the official spokesperson for Bala said that nothing has been confirmed. The actor and director first worked together on Nanda that turned out to be a turning point in Suriya’s career.
Director Bala was in the news earlier this year when the producers of his film Varmaa, a remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, decided to reshoot the film with a different director. The movie, originally scheduled to release in February, was postponed to June.
A statement issued by the producers of the film read “We at E4 Entertainment are not at all happy with the final version handed over to us and due to various creative and other differences, we have decided not to release this version. Instead, we will start afresh and shoot a new Tamil version of Arjun Reddy with Dhruv as the main lead, by staying true to the soul and intention of the original.”

Bala has maintained that he chose to walk out of the film. The film has been rechristened Adithya Varma and is being shot by retaining lead actor Dhruv Vikram but with a different director and cast.
Meanwhile, Suriya is gearing up for the release of Selvaraghavan’s NGK on May 31. The film is a political thriller and the actor essays the role of an upcoming leader. He will next be seen in KV Anand’s Kappaan. The actor will be playing the role of a security officer to Mohanlal’s Prime Minister.
