‘Battle Of Sargarhi’ Gets Four Different Film Adaptations

The Battle Of Saragarhi, that took place in 1879, will get three different film adaptations soon. The battle was fought between soldiers of the British Indian Army and 10,000 Afghan tribesmen.

Akshay Kumar plays the lead role in one such production, that is financed jointly by Salman Khan and Karan Johar. Plans are on to distribute the film worldwide, similar to Baahubali 2, with dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu and other Indian languages.

Rajkumar Santoshi, meanwhile, has kickstarted a movie on the same lines with Randeep Hooda in the lead.

Also, reports indicate that Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardar 2 is also based on the same premise. Producers Sunil and Vibha Khosla have also announced plans to produce a film based on the battle with either Sunny Deol or Sanjay Dutt in the lead role.

The situation is eerily reminiscent to when Bollywood saw three different film adaptations of Bhagat Singh’s life.
