‘Be Patient For Theatres To Open And Don’t Believe In Rumours’: Producer Sashikanth Confirms Theatrical Release Of Dhanush Starrer ‘Jagame Thandhiram’

The list of films being subject to this speculation included Siddharth‘s Takkar, Santhanam‘s Server Sundaram, Jai‘s Party, Arya‘s Teddy, Arjun Das‘ Andhaghaaram, and several others owing to a better profit-booking through OTT.

While the production houses have either denied or not commented on the same, some of the films like Keerthy Suresh‘s Penguin, Ramesh Thilak‘s Mamakiki, Vaibhav‘s Lock Up, and Yogi Babu‘s Cocktail have gone the OTT way.

On Saturday, actor Suriya announced that his upcoming film Soorarai Pottru helmed by Sudha Kongara would hit Amazon Prime Video directly skipping a theatrical release. The actor, who had previously promised to release the film only in theatres, said that he had taken the decision from the standpoint of a producer and did not want to affect the livelihoods of several people who are dependent on the film.

This came as a shocker to distributors and theatre owners who were banking on the film for revenue once theatres reopen after the long hiatus. His fans and audiences however had bittersweet reactions to the same.

After this groundbreaking announcement, buzz that almost every film in production, from small-budget to big-budget, will be hitting various OTT platforms was widespread on social media. Rumour-mongers spared no films be it Vijay‘s Master, Jayam Ravi‘s Bhoomi, Vishal‘s Chakra, Aishwarya Rajesh‘s Boomika, Dhanush‘s Jagame Thandhiram, etc.

Startled by the news, Dhanush fans trended ‘#WeWantJTOnTheatres’ on Twitter demanding an official confirmation from the production house, Y Not Studios.

Slamming rumours, Y Not StudiosS Sashikanth asked audiences and fans to stay patient until theatres open and not believe in rumours. He also added that the team is waiting to see Dhanush on the big screen soon.

His tweet read, “#Jagamethendiram. Jagam is still healing & not back to normal. Untill then, be patient for the theatres to open & don’t believe in rumours. The entire team is waiting to see @dhanushkraja go #rakitarakita on a big screen soon. Just #chillbro. @StudiosYNot @karthiksubbaraj”.

Fans, audiences, and theatre owners are elated with the news and have thanked the entire team of JT for the same.

Helmed by director Karthik Subbaraj, Jagame Thandhiram is being jointly bankrolled by S Sashikanth and Chakravarthy Ramachandra for YNot Studios and by Reliance Entertainment. The film marks the first association of Dhanush with the director.
