A biopic on founder of the AIADMK party, and former chief minister – MG Ramachandran – is on the cards.
According to an earlier report in The Hindu, the film will be directed by Balakrishna, on a script written by Chembur Jayaraj. The MGR biopic will cover a large part of the actor and politician’s life, from his days as a member of an amateur theatre group, to his rise as the biggest star in Tamil cinema, and his switch to politics and the growing Dravidian movement. The film will be produced by Ramana Communications, a production house which earlier made the biopic of Kamaraj, a former chief minister.

Sources say the film will be launched by the chief minister of the state, Edappadi Palanisamy, on November 8.
The Hindu report says that Sathyaraj may be cast to play MGR. “Talks are on to cast Sathyaraj in that role. He, being an ardent fan of MGR, is sure to agree. The only problem will be his height, which we intend to set right using technology. We are yet to finalise the artistes who will be playing the role of Kalaignar, Janaki, and Jayalalithaa,” Balakrishna told The Hindu.
